PLANT MUSIC
Plant Music is a living, experimental music series created in collaboration with plants. Using a biodata sonification device, I connect sensors—called electrodes—to the leaves of a plant. These sensors read the plant’s subtle electrical signals, which shift in response to things like light, touch, moisture, or even presence. The biodata is then translated into MIDI (Musical Instrument Digital Interface) signals—essentially musical notes—that I feed into synthesizers or software instruments. The result is an unfolding musical language generated from the plant’s internal rhythms and bioelectric activity.
Each track is a kind of duet: part improvisation, part co-creation. The plant "plays," and I respond—shaping, layering, and sculpting the sounds into an evolving composition that is both biological and musical. This project explores our interconnection with nature, inviting listeners to hear the intelligence of plants through sound.
